without conceding a try, before beating a strong Rosslyn Park side 2-1 in the final.
Blessed with good weather and firm ground conditions the team played expansive rugby, making full use of their fast runners on the wide pitches. Hosts Esher were first up and Heath settled in quickly with an early try before eventually winning 5-0. Next were Rosslyn Park Bs who were dispatched 4-0, followed by Old Ruts 3-0 then in the last group game against Old Emanuel, Heath secured another victory 3-0.
Winners of the other group were Rosslyn Park As, setting up a hotly contested final against a strong team - Heath was keen to seek revenge following a close 1-0 defeat in their last encounter. The four group matches did not appear to have taken much out of either side, with Heath in particular spoiling their opposition’s attacks with thunderous tackling and fast counter attacking. Heath took the lead midway through the first half following quick handling through the backs, but Rosslyn Park responded after the interval to level the game. Heath’s determination shone through and they found another opening through the forwards, scoring the winning try in front of their travelling supporters.
Esher RFC were great hosts, complimenting Heath on their performances during their first attendance at the tournament which they left with their hands on the trophy. The Under 10s have a busy fixture list in March culminating in their visit to Leicester for the Prima Cup finals at the end of the month.
