Taking on a very physical and much bigger forward pack, Heath kept the intensity and pace of the game high to stop Uckfield from dictating the game. The players maintained their composure under considerable pressure and were able to create the opportunity for two great team tries. The players worked hard to adapt to the opposition’s tactics and superior weight at the scrum and were determined to alter the point of attack. The Heath decision making under pressure was first rate and pleased their coaching team since it is an aspect of the game which is difficult to teach and comes best through experience on the pitch.
Heath won a close fought encounter 10-7 and in true rugby tradition sat down to eat with the opposition afterwards, sporting in their recently-acquired Club ties. The U13s continue their on-pitch training next weekend away against Lewes for another competitive friendly.
