The boys had Crowborough on the back foot for pretty much the entire game, they “won” all three thirds, with two of them being played into a strong wind, which was especially pleasing.
The game started with a few frustrating missed tackles but the boys soon got their heads on and delivered some of the best tackling yet seen from the backs and forwards.
A controversial referee decision to disallow a try could have caused problems if Thomas Banks hadn't quickly delivered the ball over the line along with James Watson and Oliver Owens whose superbly timed and angled second try was a real highlight of the match.
Although all the boys played their part today, with brilliant individual displays backed up by a massive team performance, special mention is deserved for the new and returning boys, Thomas Sheeran and James Turner who both played particularly well and added much to the team.
The important thing now is for the boys to learn how to manage those games where the opposition are stronger and don’t allow us to start quite so well but the squad is beginning to gel and play for each other and the coaches are extremely encouraged by the performance.
